It's mid-October, and it's about 75 degrees outside. So that's nice.
While meeting with his father today, Stephen was given some peanut butter fudge made by his mother. She used to make peanut butter fudge a lot more when Stephen was younger, but since Mal is allergic to peanuts, fudge-making has been less frequent. Stephen also explains that he prefers things with consistent texture (i.e. he doesn't like nuts in his fudge or his ice cream).
