A Wild Pikachu and Eevee Appear! - Pokémon- Let's Go! -1

First Episode of Pokémon Let's Go

Pokémon Let's Go is Stephen's 110th Let's Play, his 70th co-op Let's Play with Mallory, and the 13th Let's Play to have been live streamed on his Twitch Channel. They started live streaming the game on January 14th, 2022 and finished it on September 16th, 2022. Stephen and Mal took a break from playing Pokémon Let's Go on March 25th, 2022, so that they could play Kirby and the Forgotten Land on release. The YouTube version began on March 20th, 2022 and ended on November 30th, 2022.

This is the 2nd game in the Pokémon series that they have let's played, with the first being Stephen's solo Let's Play of Pokémon LeafGreen.

Just like in Link's Awakening, Stephen and Mal simultaneously play different versions of the game. That is, Stephen plays Let's Go Pikachu while Mal plays Let's Go Eevee. Additonally, like Stephen's two bonus vlogs on Pokémon X and Y, Stephen and Mal have a battle after every gym battle with different rules every time.

This LP has a very big focus on audience interaction, as described below.

In Pokémon LeafGreen, Stephen and his friends/family drew art for all 150 Pokémon that can be encountered in the Kanto Pokédex in FireRed/LeafGreen. In the spirit of that LP, this feature returns. But it comes with a catch: the viewers get to draw them! After a Pokémon is first caught in their respective game, an art prompt appears on screen. These prompts are randomly picked from a pool of suggestions made by the Twitch chat. Viewers submit these suggestions by redeeming a "Pokemon Quirk" message for 300 Cups (Channel Points) in the Twitch chat, preferably something that can be drawn easily. Using the #CronchArt on Twitter, viewers can submit their drawings to be shown on stream and, eventually, the LP!

Also like the LeafGreen LP, the chat is able to suggest nicknames for Stephen and Mal's Pokémon during the livestream for 300 Cups (instead of suggesting nicknames in the YouTube comments of a vlog like in vlog Day 994). Every time Stephen and Mal catch a Pokémon, they will randomly pull a name from that list.

Don't have (m)any Channel Points? Don't worry, you can earn points by watching the stream or betting channel points on who wins between Stephen and Mal when they battle each other after every gym leader.

(Note: According to the Twitch FAQs, earning and betting channel points may not be possible for viewers in Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Quebec, Singapore, Sweden, Korea, and Turkey, as well as viewers in Australia and Brazil for certain stream genres due to legal restrictions in these respective areas.)

Memorable Moments from this LP[]

Notes[]

  • This is considered a "sequel" and 10-year anniversary throwback to Stephen's solo Pokémon LeafGreen Let's Play in 2012, with the added benefits of the new remake. For example, there now a Fairy type, certain Pokémon had type changes, and attacking moves have a physical or special attribute. However, there's no abilities and held items, much like the mobile game Pokémon Go and the original Pokémon Yellow.
  • This is also the first streamed LP to use Stephen's new StreamBox 2.0 in order to add more power behind both the Twitch stream and the YouTube recording. It is a Corsair pre-built PC and it can first be seen on Vlog Day 4434.
  • Stephen did a YouTube premiere for the release of Episode 1 of Pokémon: Let's Go! on Mar 20th, 2022 at 12:00 PM.
  • Stephen and Mal received a crochet Diglett hat during the February 2022 VlogMail.
