Previous Vlog (Day 3731) | Next Vlog (Day 3733)

Stephen and Mallory got up early to get blood tests done. Mal is doing it as part of her annual physical examination, while Stephen is doing it to get his cholesterol levels checked. Last time, his cholesterol levels were doing well and he hopes it stays that way. It takes about a week to get the results, so he will find out then. Stephen's appointment is at 10:00 AM, but they both decided to go in at Mal's appointment time at 8:00 AM to see if they would do it for both of them at the same time since they are already there.

They ended up seeing them at the same time, so Stephen didn't have to wait until his appointment time. Mal doesn't handle needles well, but she was able to stand up and walk out immediately this time. She says that maybe the removal of the dermatofibroma on the skin between her eyes was traumatic enough for her to get over her fear of needles. Stephen talks about how he was also scared of needles when he was little. But, he got pneumonia when he was 14 years old and had to get shots on alternating arms every single day for 2 weeks. So, he is no longer scared of needles. Then, he talks about how for some people it's harder to find their veins, but that's not the case for him. Mal says that they needed to use a baby needle for her, so maybe that was part of the reason. Stephen says that he ended up talking about politics with the nurse that was taking his blood. They both go get lunch at a restaurant and pick up groceries afterwards.

Back at home, it is dinnertime and they are having tikka masala with jasmine rice. Stephen says that the nurse did a good job inserting the needle into Mal's arm since the needle puncture is barely noticeable on Mal's arm. Mal says that her arm also didn't bruise this time. Stephen had a different nurse, but she did a good job as well. He says that sometimes his arm gets sore after getting blood taken, but it didn't happen this time. Stephen talks about how he finished the main story of Bioshock Infinite today. He still has the DLC left though.

Stephen gives a spoiler-free overview of the game. He wants to generate some interest in the game so that people might watch his Let's Play or buy the game for themselves. Stephen had heard some rumors that they were bringing the Bioshock series to the Switch. He says that it's great because an whole new generation of people who didn't get to play it on PC or PlayStation will get to try it. Stephen talks about how Bioshock Infinite is the most recent game in the series. It was released in 2013, but it's still a work of art. Stephen has now played through Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite which he says are all really good. He talks about how there have been many comparisons between new 1st person shooter games and the original Bioshock which shows how good the game was despite it being over 10 years old. Stephen says that the games as aged well.

Then, he talks about some of the benefits of playing Bioshock Infinite. For example, you can play it without having played Bioshock and Bioshock 2. He says that Bioshock Infinite also has more modern game design than the original game. Stephen often hears about how some people aren't interested in playing the game because it's scary. He believes that Bioshock isn't a horror game, but agrees that there are elements of horror in the game. Stephen says that Bioshock Infinite only has a tiny amount of horror elements that are on the same level as the horror in the original game. This game also has elements similar to the original, while also feeling like an entirely different game. Stephen then talks about the 1st person shooter mechanics of this game have also built upon the mechanics from the first 2 games. He says that he likes the fact the magic powers your character can use can be explained within the logic of the game world.

The game gives you a variety of ways to deal with any particular situation. In Bioshock Infinite, they added combos to the magic powers. It took Stephen a while to understand them and there were some combos he never used. However, he liked that the option was available for him to do those combos. There are also a variety of guns, so you can just use guns if you wanted to. Stephen likes these options because it allows you to build your own character. Then, he talks about how Bioshock Infinite is not only fun, but also has a great storyline. He says that the story of this game is the most complex out of the 3 games, so you will get confused sometimes. But, it gets cleared up with the big reveals and twists in the story.

Stephen reminds everyone not to spoil the game for other people in the comments. He says that Bioshock Infinite is a masterpiece like the first 2 games. Stephen talks about he thinks Bioshock 2 is fantastic despite a lot of people not liking it. He says that if you like 1st person shooters and games with good storylines, then Bioshock Infinite is a good game to try. Stephen says that if you want to hear his more in-depth review of the game with spoilers, then to check out the finale episode of Bioshock Infinite. He hasn't started the Burial at Sea DLC yet, but he heard that it does spoil Bioshock. But, the main story of Bioshock Infinite doesn't spoil Bioshock Infinite, so you can play it without worrying about spoilers.

Mal hasn't had any spare time to continue playing Bioshock. But, Stephen is excited for her to finish playing it so that she can play Bioshock Infinite as well. He says that it is very unique game. It has elements that make you feel like it's a Bioshock game while also having elements that are completely different from the last 2 games. Stephen says that he has to go to bed early since they have Breakfast Stream and lunch tomorrow. They are both trying to get their sleep schedules back on track.
